Unboxing an Unusual Wuyi Oolong

This was a bit of a frustrating tasting session!

Anyone can go and find tea from a multitude of sellers and you can even try your luck buying direct from China. Therefore I have always considered it to be my job to be a tea curator and quality controller.

I am obesessed with selecting the right leaves at the right price for our clients and I taste so many teas of which about 90% are rejected in order to find the Mei Leaf collection.

Therefore it is always a mixture of excitement and trepidation when I unbox the teas which have been sent from the producers. This is especially the case when I know that it is a hard to find tea like this Bai Ji Guan Oolong.

After this video was filmed we spent a few days of back and forth with our suppliers and here is what they said about this tea:

We think you’ll love:

Dark and smooth GABA tea. Deep roasted nuts, tarmac and coffee. Fleeting spices like black cardamom, antique wood and black liquorice.

Jiao Gu Lan - Gynostemma pentaphyllum

A powerful immune boosting adaptogenic herb with a vast variety of reported health benefits. Licorice sweet and grassy.

Bamboo tray designed for preparing and inspecting tea.

Da Ye Kuding - Ilex kaushue

Very strong calming herb with a smoky aroma and powerful medicinal bitterness moving to sweetness.
