The most famous Chinese Oolong is Tie Guan Yin aka Iron Goddess. Its popularity in China is unquestionable and it is one of the most common 'gateway' teas to introduce True Tea to relative newbies.

Because of its popularity there are so many grades on the market and many different styles of production. I plan to write another blog post about the different styles of Tie Guan Yin, but in this video I go through the basics of spotting higher grade ball rolled Oolong and we do a tasting to find out if the visuals match up with the flavour of the tea.

We think you’ll love:

Dark and smooth GABA tea. Deep roasted nuts, tarmac and coffee. Fleeting spices like black cardamom, antique wood and black liquorice.

Jiao Gu Lan - Gynostemma pentaphyllum

A powerful immune boosting adaptogenic herb with a vast variety of reported health benefits. Licorice sweet and grassy.

Bamboo tray designed for preparing and inspecting tea.

Da Ye Kuding - Ilex kaushue

Very strong calming herb with a smoky aroma and powerful medicinal bitterness moving to sweetness.
